Help & FAQ

Everything you need to know about Fancav.

Finding & Attending Events

Go to Find in the navigation. You'll see upcoming watch parties near you for your followed teams. You can filter by date range, distance, and sport. Events are sorted by proximity by default.

You'll see events based on your followed teams and the event's visibility setting. Team events are visible only to fans who follow that specific team. League events are visible to anyone following a team in the same league. Open events are visible to all Fancav members regardless of teams. You can update your followed teams in Profile → Favorite Teams — note that changes are limited to once every 30 days per league.

It depends on the event's visibility setting. League events are open to anyone following at least one team in that league — so an NBA fan can attend a Lakers event even if they don't follow the Lakers specifically. Open events are visible to all Fancav members regardless of teams. Only Team events require you to follow that specific team.

Fancav is in beta and just getting started — the community is small but growing. If your area is quiet right now, the best thing you can do is invite friends to join. Every new fan makes the platform better for everyone. You can also try hosting your own event — you might be surprised how many fans are nearby waiting for someone to step up.

Open the event detail page and tap RSVP. If the host has approval mode enabled, your RSVP will be pending until they confirm it. Once confirmed, you'll receive an email with event details. The full address is revealed 24 hours before the event.

Some hosts enable manual RSVP approval. Pending means your request has been received and is waiting for the host to approve or decline it. You'll be notified either way. Until confirmed, you don't have a guaranteed spot.

Yes — go to My Events → Attending and withdraw from the event. The host will be notified. If you withdraw after the address has been revealed, you'll immediately lose access to it. We ask that you withdraw as early as possible out of respect for the host.

Some events have a priority RSVP window — Superfan, Diehard, and Legend members get a 24-hour head start to RSVP to events scheduled 7 or more days out. If you see a countdown, the window hasn't opened for your tier yet. Events happening within the next 7 days are always open to everyone immediately.

No — every attendee must have their own confirmed RSVP through Fancav. The good news is it's completely free to join. If your friend wants to come, have them sign up and RSVP directly. This keeps events safe, respects the host's capacity limit, and ensures everyone in attendance is a verified member of the community.

For fan-hosted events, the exact address is revealed 24 hours before the event — but only to guests with a confirmed RSVP. If you cancel your RSVP, access is removed.

When you arrive, open Fancav and tap 'I'm Here' on the event card on your home screen or in My Events → Attending. Check-in opens 15 minutes before the event starts and closes 3 hours after. Checking in verifies your attendance and counts toward your loyalty tier progress.

Go to My Events → Past Events and tap 'Request attendance credit' on the event. You can submit a request explaining what happened — our team will review it within 48 hours. Requests must be submitted within 7 days of the event.

We're sorry to hear that. Use the report button on the event page or the host's profile to submit a report. Our moderation team reviews every report and will take appropriate action. If you felt unsafe or threatened, please prioritize your safety first — leave the situation and call 911 if needed.

You'll receive a notification and your RSVP will be automatically cancelled. The event will be removed from your My Events page.

Hosting Events

Go to Host in the navigation. Select a game from your followed teams' schedules, or create a custom event using the 'More Than a Game' option. Fill in your event details and you're set.

Four things: a verified email address, a profile photo that clearly shows your face, a saved home address, and a completed identity verification through Stripe. Identity verification is a one-time process that takes about 2 minutes — you'll photograph your government-issued ID and take a selfie to confirm it's yours. These requirements exist to keep the community safe and trustworthy for everyone involved.

Hosting a watch party means opening your space to fellow fans. Identity verification through Stripe is how Fancav helps your guests feel confident walking through your door — and how we help you feel confident about who's showing up. It's a one-time process that takes about 2 minutes, and once it's done, you can host as many events as you'd like with no repeat check needed.

You'll need to select a game from your followed teams' schedules (or create a custom event), set your event address, choose a maximum attendee count, and select a visibility setting — Team, League, or Open. You can also add an optional description.

It depends on your loyalty tier. Fan members can create events up to 30 days out, Superfan up to 45 days, and Diehard or Legend up to 60 days. This also affects how far ahead you can see events in the feed.

You can create events for any game on your followed teams' schedules. You can also create custom events — tailgates, draft parties, documentary nights, fantasy drafts, or any other fan gathering — using the 'More Than a Game' option on the Host page. Custom events aren't tied to a specific game or team schedule.

Not necessarily. You do need to follow at least one team to use Fancav, but you don't need to host a game-specific event. The 'More Than a Game' option lets you host tailgates, draft parties, documentary nights, fantasy drafts, or any other fan gathering — no specific game required.

Yes — go to My Events → Hosting and tap the event to edit it. You can update the description, max attendees, and other details. The game, team, and date cannot be changed after creation.

Go to My Events → Hosting, open the event, and select Cancel Event. All confirmed attendees will be notified by email automatically. Cancellations cannot be undone.

Approval mode lets you manually approve or decline each RSVP request before it's confirmed. When enabled, fans who request an RSVP will show as pending until you act. You'll receive a notification for each request. If approval mode is off, RSVPs are confirmed automatically up to your attendee cap.

Your attendee cap depends on your loyalty tier — Fan hosts can invite up to 20 attendees, Superfan up to 30, Diehard up to 50, and Legend hosts have no platform-imposed cap. Business hosts set their own cap based on venue capacity.

Yes — the Who's Going list on your event page shows all confirmed attendees by first name and profile photo. You can also see attendee count at a glance from your My Events page.

Once your attendee cap is reached, the RSVP button is disabled for new fans. There's no waitlist currently — fans who miss out will need to check back if someone withdraws their RSVP.

You'll receive an email 24 hours after your event ends with a link to mark attendance. You can also access it from My Events → Past Events → Mark Attendance. The window to mark attendance closes 48 hours after the event. Marking attendance helps your fans earn loyalty credit for showing up.

Marking attendance verifies that your fans actually showed up, which counts toward their loyalty tier progress. It also counts toward your own hosting progress — a hosted event only contributes to your tier if at least one other fan checks in. It helps Fancav recognize reliable, engaged fans — and over time, helps identify patterns of fans who repeatedly RSVP without showing up. It takes 30 seconds and makes a real difference for your community.

Team — only fans who follow the same team can see and RSVP to your event. League — any fan following a team in the same league can see it. Open — any Fancav member can see and RSVP regardless of their teams. All visibility settings are still subject to distance filtering.

Fan accounts are designed for hosting at private residences. If you own or manage a bar, restaurant, or sports venue and want to host events through Fancav, you'll need a business account. Sign up at fancav.com/auth/signup/business to get started.

Loyalty & Status

Fancav has four annual tiers — Fan, Superfan, Diehard, and Legend. You earn your way up by doing three things: attending events and checking in, hosting events where other fans check in, and referring fans who join and get active. Every tier requires all three. Your progress resets each season, but hold a tier for enough consecutive seasons and it becomes Lifetime status, which never expires.

A verified attendance is when you RSVP to an event and tap 'I'm Here' to check in through the app when you arrive. Simply RSVPing to an event is not enough — you need to check in on the day of the event. Check-in opens 15 minutes before the event starts and closes 3 hours after.

A hosted event counts toward your tier progress when at least one other fan checks in to your event using the 'I'm Here' button. Creating an event alone does not count — someone else needs to show up and check in.

Share your unique referral link from the Invite Friends section on the home hub or your Profile. When a friend signs up using your link and RSVPs to or hosts their first event, it counts as an activated referral toward your loyalty tier. Just signing up is not enough — your referred fan needs to take their first event action.

Fancav uses a carry-forward system — you start each new season at the tier you ended the previous one. But you need to re-qualify during the new season to keep it. If you don't meet the thresholds again, you'll drop to the highest tier you did qualify for. Your consecutive-season counter resets to zero if you drop a tier, which affects Lifetime status eligibility.

Legend requires 15 verified attendances, 8 hosted events with verified attendees, and 25 activated referrals in a single season — plus a review and approval by the Fancav team. Meeting the numbers alone is not enough. Legend is intentionally rare and requires demonstrating that you've genuinely built a watch party community. Once approved, hold Legend for 2 consecutive seasons to earn Lifetime Legend, which is permanent.

Lifetime status is a permanent version of a tier that never requires re-qualification. Superfan and Diehard become Lifetime after 3 consecutive seasons at that tier. Legend becomes Lifetime after 2 consecutive seasons. Once earned, Lifetime status and all its benefits are yours permanently — no matter what you do or don't do in future seasons.

Founding Fan is a permanent badge for fans who completed onboarding during Fancav's beta period. It sits alongside your annual tier — a Founding Fan who earns Diehard carries both badges. It never expires, can't be earned after beta ends, and requires no activity to maintain. It's a mark of origin, not achievement.

Privacy & Safety

Only your first name and profile photo are visible to other users. Your last name, phone number, address, and date of birth are never shown publicly.

For fan-hosted events, your exact address is only shared with fans who have a confirmed RSVP, and only within 24 hours of the event start. Before that window, only your general neighborhood is shown. Fans who cancel their RSVP immediately lose access to the address. Business venue addresses are always visible since they're public locations.

No. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy at fancav.com/legal/privacy for full details on how we use your information.

You can delete your account anytime from Profile → Account. This deactivates your account immediately and permanently removes your personal data after 30 days. If you'd like a copy of your data or have other privacy requests, contact us at support@fancav.com.

All users — including hosts — are required to verify both their email address and a real U.S. mobile phone number at signup. Hosts are also required to upload a profile photo showing their face before creating an event. Fan-hosted watch parties additionally require identity verification through Stripe — a one-time process where you photograph your government-issued ID and take a selfie to confirm it's yours. This means every fan host has been verified as a real person with a real identity document. That said, Fancav does not conduct background checks. We encourage all fans to use good judgment before attending any event.

Fan-hosted watch parties are about real fans coming together in person — at someone's home, around a game, with people they've never met before. Identity verification through Stripe is how we make that feel comfortable for everyone involved. It's a one-time process that takes about 2 minutes: you'll photograph a government-issued ID and take a quick selfie. Once you're verified, you're all set — no repeat check ever required. Business-hosted events at bars and venues don't require identity verification.

Your safety comes first — leave the situation immediately if you feel unsafe. If you're in immediate danger, call 911. Once you're safe, report the user or event through the app so our team can review it and take action.

Every user profile and event page has a report option. Reports go directly to the Fancav team for review.

Every report goes directly to the Fancav moderation team for review. Depending on the severity, we may issue a warning, suspend the account, or permanently remove the user from the platform. We don't share the outcome of reports with the reporting user, but we take every report seriously.

Sign out of all devices immediately, then reset your password using 'Forgot your password?' on the login page. If you need further help, contact us at support@fancav.com and we'll assist you in securing your account.

My Account

Go to Profile → Account → Delete Account. You'll be asked why you're leaving, then your account will be immediately deactivated. You'll receive an email with a link to cancel the deletion — you have 30 days to change your mind. After 30 days, your account and personal data are permanently removed and cannot be recovered. If your restore link expires, contact us at support@fancav.com.

Yes — you can update each team once every 30 days per league. Go to Profile → Favorite Teams to make changes. We limit how often you can switch to keep your event feed and community connections stable. If you remove a team, any RSVPs you have for events tied to that team will be automatically cancelled.

Go to Profile → Photo. Your photo must show a clear face — this helps other fans recognize you at events. Photos that don't meet this requirement will be rejected automatically.

You can update your first and last name anytime from Profile → Personal Info.

Gender cannot be changed after onboarding. If you need a correction, contact us at support@fancav.com.

Go to Profile → Address. Your address is used to show you nearby events and is never shared publicly.

Contact us at support@fancav.com. Phone verification is required to use the platform, so we'll need to verify your identity another way before updating your number.

Go to Profile → Account, or use 'Forgot your password?' on the login page to reset it via email.

Not currently — email is tied to your account identity. Contact support@fancav.com if you need help.

The gender preference setting lets you choose to host or attend events with fans of the same gender. It's entirely optional, defaults to off, and can be changed anytime in Profile → Preferences. As a host, enabling it limits RSVPs to fans of the same gender. As an attendee, it prioritizes same-gender hosted events in your feed — you can still see and attend events where the host hasn't enabled it. This setting exists as a personal safety preference for fans hosting at their private home.

Go to Profile → Account. You'll see the identity verification section at the top. Tap "Verify ID with Stripe" — you'll be guided through photographing your government-issued ID (passport or driver's license) and taking a selfie to confirm it matches. The process takes about 2 minutes and is powered by Stripe, a trusted payments and identity company. Your name and date of birth on your Fancav account must match your ID exactly before you begin — if they don't, update your name in Profile → Personal Info first, or contact support@fancav.com if your date of birth needs correcting.

It depends on the reason. Here's what each failure means and how to resolve it: • Name doesn't match — the name on your ID doesn't match your Fancav account name. Go to Profile → Personal Info and update your name to match exactly, then try again. • Date of birth doesn't match — the DOB on your ID doesn't match what we have on file. Contact support@fancav.com to get it corrected. • ID appears expired — use a current, valid government-issued ID and try again. • Selfie didn't match — your selfie didn't match the photo on your ID. Try again in good lighting with your full face clearly visible. • Anything else — contact support@fancav.com and we'll help you work through it.

For email verification, check your spam or junk folder first. If it's not there, go to your home screen and tap 'Resend verification email' on the banner at the top. For SMS OTP, make sure you entered the correct phone number and that your carrier supports SMS. If you're still having trouble, contact us at support@fancav.com.
